Post Injury Training Plans

Injured and not sure how to get back into your training plan?

When you’re training for an event and you pick up an injury it can feel like an impossible task to get yourself back on track. All too often people will put their head in the sand and hope for the best, increasing the severity of the problem and ultimately resulting in not making that start line. Or I see people becoming so scared of any training that they back off too much and maybe make it to the start line but are undertrained so don’t enjoy the race and put themselves at risk of injury during the race.

Adapt and modify

Injuries rarely need complete rest. There is always something you can do to maintain/build strength while you are rehabbing. We don’t stop training, we adapt and modify. In the early phases of recovery you will be focusing on rehabbing your injury, but I will help you to maintain as much of your current training plan as possible. I can work with your existing plan or coach to adapt your sessions as needed.

If you don’t yet have a training plan I can write one for you. Combining my long history of racing in multiple sports along with my physiotherapy knowledge I can create a training plan for your event, with your injury in mind, that will get you to the start line in the best shape possible.

This can also involve regular check-ins to discuss how each session has impacted your injury so we can continually adapt the plan as needed.
